Frequently Asked Credit/Debit Card Questions

Each in-person credit/debit card transaction is limited to $75,000.00, including a cost, currently 2.22 percent of the transaction amount. Each online credit/debit card transaction is limited to $99,999.99, including a cost, currently 2.22 percent of the transaction amount. This information is also provided in our Terms of Use which is available prior to submitting an online credit/debit card payment. Unfortunately, service fees cannot be refunded.
The service fee is a temporary hold authorization for each transaction attempt. If the principal property tax payment transaction does not go through, the service fee authorization will release within 24 to 72 hours, depending on your credit card company.

If you were assessed a penalty for a circumstance which was out of your control, you may submit a penalty cancellation request by visiting ttc.lacounty.gov/penalty-cancellation-request-2/
If you are inquiring about an eCheck payment which has already been submitted, please note that even though a payment confirmation is provided, an eCheck pay may be returned by a financial institution for 7-10 days after payment.
Payments are processed by a third-party vendor and we do not have the ability to cancel electronic payments. If you feel that you have submitted your payment with an error, please resubmit your payment.

Each year, per state law, assessed property value that has not changed ownership or had new construction can increase by no more than 2%. In addition, there may be changes to your Voted Indebtedness (recent ballot measures) or Direct Assessments (services provided to the property). Please review your bill thoroughly compared to the previous year's bill.

Frequently Asked Property Payment Plans Questions
You may be eligible to open an Installment Plan of Redemption (Five-Pay Plan) and pay the defaulted taxes over a five-year period for vacant residential lots or nonresidential commercial property that is less than three years in default, and residential or agricultural property that is less than five years in default. This will prevent the property from being sold at a public auction. SUBMISSION CONFIRMATION
Thank you for submitting an inquiry regarding your credit card payment. We accept cash, check, money order, cashier’s check, and major credit cards and debit cards at 225 North Hill Street, First Floor Lobby, Los Angeles, CA 90012, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, excluding Los Angeles County holidays. Each credit/debit card transaction is limited to $75,000.00, including a cost, currently 2.22 percent of the transaction amount.
We accept major credit card and debit card payments over the telephone. To pay by telephone, call toll-free 1(888) 473-0835. The Annual Secured Property Tax Bill contains your Assessor’s Identification Number (AIN), Year, and Sequence, which you will need to complete the transaction. Each credit/debit card transaction is limited to $99,999.99, including a cost, currently 2.22 percent of the transaction amount.
You may also pay online by using major credit cards or debit cards, which do not require the PIN. Each online credit/debit card transaction is limited to $99,999.99, including a cost, currently 2.22 percent of the transaction amount.

Thank you for submitting an inquiry regarding your eCheck payment. To make payments online, go to propertytax.lacounty.gov" and select “Pay Property Taxes Online.” You can make online payments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week up until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the delinquency date.
There is no cost to you for electronic check (eCheck) payments. The Annual Secured Property Tax Bill contains your Assessor’s Identification Number (AIN), which you will need to complete the transaction. Each eCheck transaction is limited to $999,999.99.

When paying by eCheck, your bank account must be Automated Clearing House (ACH)-enabled, meaning the transaction can settle through the ACH Network. If your bank account has a debit block to prevent unauthorized organizations from debiting your account via ACH, you must notify your bank to authorize ACH debits from Los Angeles County with a debit filter with the Company Identification Number of 0 0 0 0 0 7 9 1 6 1. Los Angeles County updated its Company Identification Number in September 2018, so you must update this Company Identification Number if you previously had a debit filter on your bank account.
