How to Purchase The Auction Book

Recent legislation went into affect that increased the sales tax in Los Angeles to 9.25% until June 30, 2009. On July 1, 2009 the sales tax will increase to 9.75%.

Auction books purchased between June 1, 2009 and June 30, 2009 will cost $28.00 plus sales tax of $2.59 for a total of $30.59 plus postage if the auction book is purchased over the internet, through the mail, or by telephone.

Auction books purchased on and after July 1, 2009 will cost $28.00 plus sales tax of $2.73 for a total of $30.73 plus postage if the auction book is purchased over the internet, through the mail, or by telephone.

How to purchase an Auction Book

  1. ON-LINE:   Starting June 1, 2009 you may visit our website at http://ttc.lacounty.gov to order the auction book. Allow five business days for delivery. Sales tax of 9.25% will be charged to California shipping addresses only, and postage in addition to the $28 cost of the auction book. Only Visa, MasterCard, and Discover Card will be accepted. On July 1, 2009, the sales tax will increase to 9.75%.

  2. IN PERSON:   Starting June 1, 2009 purchases in person are to be made at the Cashier Windows located on the First Floor - Lobby area of the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, 225 North Hill Street, Los Angeles, California, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Only cash, cashier’s checks, bank-issued money orders, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover Card will be accepted. Personal or business checks will NOT be accepted. Sales tax of 9.25% will be charged in addition to the $28 cost of the auction book. On July 1, 2009, the sales tax will increase to 9.75%.


  3. BY TELEPHONE:  Starting June 1, 2009, orders by telephone must be directed to (213) 974-2646 or (213) 974 2647 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and paid by using Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. Callers must have their credit card number available when calling. Sales tax of 9.25% will be charged to California shipping addresses only, and postage in addition to the $28 cost of the auction book. On July 1, 2009, the sales tax will increase to 9.75%.


  4. BY MAIL:   Starting June 1, 2009, orders by mail should be addressed to the Los Angeles County Tax Collector, 225 North Hill Street, Room 114, Los Angeles, California, 90012. Only cashier’s checks or bank- issued money orders made payable to the Los Angeles County Tax Collector will be accepted. Personal or business checks will NOT be accepted. Sales tax of 9.25% will be charged to California shipping addresses only and postage in addition to the $28 cost of the auction book. On July 1, 2009, the sales tax will increase to 9.75%.
