Mailing Information

Pay online for free using your checking account and the Personal Identification Number (PIN) from your tax bill.
To make a payment now, go to Online Payments.

There is no need to write a check, hunt for stamps, or travel to a mailbox. You do not have to worry about mail delays or post office closures.

There is no charge for electronic check payments.
You may also pay online by using a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express) or a Visa debit card. However, there are processing fees when paying by credit/debit card.
Electronic payments can be made 24/7 - Payments are accepted up until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the delinquency date.
You will need the PIN that is printed on the original tax bill.
Each online transaction is limited to $24,999.99.

Should you choose to mail your payment,  AVOID PENALTIES BY UNDERSTANDING POSTMARKS and:

When preparing to send your payment, you may pay one installment or both installments together. But remember to:

  • Make your check or money order payable to the Los Angeles County Tax Collector.
  • Write the Assessorís I.D. Number on the lower left-hand corner of your check or money order.
  • Enclose your payment stub(s) from your tax bill.
  • The payment must be mailed in a sealed envelope, properly addressed, and must have the required postage.

If mailing by an Independent Delivery Service, you must use a service that is an Internal Revenue Service designated delivery service, or has been approved by the Los Angeles County Tax Collector. The payment must be in a sealed envelope or package, properly addressed with the required fee prepaid, the package must have been sent on or before the delinquency date and delivery must be no later than 5:00 p.m. two business days after the delinquency date. For example, if December 10th falls on Monday, the package must be received in our office by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12th. If December 10th falls on a Friday, the package must be received in our office by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, December 14th.
